Got the 3G iPhone

Well tonight for a laugh I decided to join the crowd of iPhone mad people waiting for its release at the Queen Street store in Auckland. After 4 long and cold hours I finally got in the door, and got the last white 16GB in stock! Would have preferred a black one but white is actually pretty nice.

It was all fun and games, the crowd was in good spirits and we had a bit of a laugh. Got looked after while in the queue … drinks, burgers, blankets etc. I think I will have more patience next time but it was fun to one of the first in the world to get one. OMG though with the need to sign a contract and activate in store it was SO SLOW!

All I can say is well done Apple. I was a great fan of the 1st generation iPhone but this is even better. The external speaker is excellent, the GPS is amazing and the integration with exchange server and cisco vpn is a great move … do you think you could now add the say functionality into OSX and mail, ical etc?

Vodafone, sorry but you still SUCK. I was prepared to pay the price of the contract, but you continue to over charge and rip off the New Zealand consumer. I understand you take advantage of us because you can, but this isn’t the way to build loyal customers … If I ever get the option to move to a better supplier I will.

Transferring all my old info was easy. Just sync the old iPhone in iTunes and then setup the new phone with the old phones backup and a few minutes later it is running perfectly with txts and all transferred etc.

The app store is very cool, lots of free stuff but also about 400 for sale options. I am sure this is going to be great for developers. I have already brought 3 apps, if only because I used them previously on my jail broken phone.

Haven’t had any success setting up exchange yet, but then I haven’t really tried.

All and all … Pleased to see the 3G
